We know that our bodies change as we age. We spot wrinkles in the mirror, we get tired more easily, and sometimes we’re even a little more forgetful than we used to be. But IV therapy combats aging because it gives you some control over how rapidly these changes occur. Dr. James Evans, MD., MBA., CHCQM. Dr. Evans, MD MBA CHCQM,  dual board-certified internal medicine physician  explains.

A regular IV regimen supplies your body with critical ingredients that can help slow the aging process. One of the most important ingredients is NAD+. This is a coenzyme called nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide that’s produced naturally in our bodies. It’s a powerhouse that fuels and repairs cells, regulates our stress response, and fights free radical damage, among many other functions. Unfortunately, we don’t produce as much NAD+ as we get older, which contributes to the signs of aging that appear.

NAD+ IV therapy enhances your natural NAD+ levels to rejuvenate and reinvigorate you. You can also reap anti-aging benefits from regular IVs rich in vitamins, such as B-Complex and C, and antioxidants, including glutathione.

Here are some key ways that IV therapy helps you thrive during the aging process:

Fighting Free Radicals

Free radicals are all around us—in air pollution, cigarette smoke, and UV rays from sunlight. They wreak havoc in the body by producing oxidative stress, which can contribute to illnesses such as heart disease or decreased immune system reaction. Free radical exposure can also show up on your complexion in the form of lines, wrinkles, and dark age spots. An IV with antioxidant-rich vitamin C or glutathione, for instance, neutralizes free radicals and slows down the damage they cause.

Boosting Energy Levels

We may experience a loss in stamina and energy as we age. But growing older doesn’t have to confine us to a sedentary lifestyle. IV therapy can provide a much-needed “get up and go” eeling with vitamins and minerals (think B12, for one) that kickstart our energy levels, so we feel more vibrant and can enjoy all that life has to offer. One of the most popular IVs addresses this issue; the Myers’ Cocktail is formulated with vitamins and minerals that aim to eliminate fatigue and make you feel energized.

Increasing Mental Clarity

Have you found it difficult to remember an acquaintance’s name or where you put your keys? Many people rely on IV therapy to clear the brain fog often associated with getting older. That’s because dehydration, or low levels of fluid in the body, can impair concentration, memory, and other brain functions. IV therapy delivers effective hydration to your bloodstream to re-balance your body in a short amount of time. You may feel more alert and focused after your IV treatment, and that renewed mental sharpness can be invigorating for your overall well-being.

Promoting Better Sleep

It’s common to lose sleep as we age. Difficulty falling asleep, insomnia, and sleep apnea keep us from getting the rest we need. And that sleep is crucial to good health. Lack of sleep can impair brain function, trigger mood swings, and increase obesity and disease risk, among other problems. Plus, if we wake up tired, it compounds any lack of energy we may feel as we get older. IV therapy nurtures your body with vitamins and hydration that can lead to a good night’s sleep.

Strengthening Muscle Tone

Even the athletes among us can see a loss of muscle tone as they grow older. It’s important to keep muscles as strong as possible to maintain mobility and help prevent falls that can cause injury as we age. NAD+ IVs are particularly good at working to repair muscle tone, as well as tissues, bones, and nerves. Feeling strong and vital is crucial to maintaining a positive mindset as we age.

Conclusion

You’re only as old as you feel—and IV therapy can make you feel younger almost immediately. Treatments are quick (typically less than an hour) and comfortable (you just relax while the IV is infused in your arm).

IV therapy is also convenient when you take advantage of mobile services. Medical professionals administer your IV at your home, office, or other comfortable location. The process is considered extremely safe because you discuss your health history and current condition with the medical provider before treatment. You will receive the most effective IV for your needs, and you are monitored throughout the session to ensure your safety.

If you’re feeling the effects of age, explore how IV therapy combats aging and how it can help you. With IV treatment, you’re not getting older—you’re getting better.
