A woman has revealed that she had such a horrific reaction to lip injections that she ended up going to the ER out of fear that her swollen pout was ‘going to explode.’
Casey Crothers, 21, from Southern California, took to TikTok to share a compilation video of the dramatic swelling she experienced after getting one syringe of Juvederm Volbella injected into her lips at a medical spa earlier in the day.
She opened up about what happened in a series of follow-up clips, explaining that the ER doctor told her the puffiness and bruising she experienced after the injections are actually normal side effects.

Casey documented the swelling in her first video, which starts with her sitting in an examination chair right before she got the injections.
The footage then cuts to her lips starting to puff and bruise on the ride home. By the end of the clip, her lips are swollen to roughly double their size.
‘My lip injection horror story. Ended up in the ER. Kris Jenner who?’ she wrote, referring to how the reality star’s lips famously swelled in 2012 following an allergic reaction.
The video has been viewed more than 11.7 million times, and thousands of viewers left comments asking her what happened.

The day after she got the lip injections, she shared two more clips given a more detailed account of why she ended up going to the ER.
Casey explained that her appointment was around noon, and she filmed her lips-swelling five hours later before posting the clip on TikTok at 11 that night.
‘So right away, when she injected me, I was bruising really bad, so I knew I was going to bruise,’ she said. ‘She told me that, but I didn’t know I was going to swell that much.
‘As the time went on, they just kept getting bigger and bigger and I was freaking out. I have never seen my lips that big. I thought they were going to explode.’

Casey was so worried that she eventually decided to go to the ER to make sure everything was okay.
‘The doctor actually told me this is completely normal, and it just happens to people. It just depends on your body,’ she said. ‘I had a really bad reaction. He wasn’t sure if I was allergic.’
Casey explained that she wasn’t having any other reactions to make him believe it was allergy related. Her lips weren’t tingly nor was she in any pain.
‘He said that I’m probably not allergic, but just to be safe, he gave me a steroid shot, two allergy medications, and one anti-inflammatory, which I took last night.’

Much better: By Monday, her lips were no longer as swollen and bruised
While the swelling went down, her lips were even more bruised than they were the day before.
‘It’s probably because she injected me so many times, and that’s just why it’s bruised so much,’ she said. ‘Just depends on your body type. You’ve got to be careful.’
Casey also shared a brief update on day three to show that she could now cover up the bruising with lipstick.
‘As you can tell, the bruising is still bad, but not as bad,’ she said. ‘I’ve been using arnica gel. It’s a lifesaver.’
