Oh no! Montanna Morris, 24, from Florida, revealed on TikTok this week that she was left with a botched smile after getting Dysport injections in her cheeks in January to treat her TMJ

A woman has revealed that she has been left with a botched smile and is unable to fully widen her mouth after getting Dysport injections in her cheeks to treat her temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ).

Montanna Morris, 24, from Florida, opened up about her condition this week in a now-viral TikTok video that she filmed two months after her injections, explaining that her mouth paralysis was even worse before.

‘About two months ago, I got absolutely botched from Botox,’ she explained, though she later told BuzzFeed that she actually got Dysport, a different brand of the neurotoxin.

‘I wasn’t going to talk about it until I was fully recovered, but I saw someone post yesterday who this also happened to, but to her eye.’

The TikToker was referring to influencer Whitney Buha, 34, who was left with a droopy eyelid after getting Botox at a medical spa.

The Chicago-based blogger has been documenting her road to recovery after her eye started to droop, causing her other eye to bulge out to overcompensate for her impaired vision.

Whitney’s candid videos inspired Montanna to share her story in the hopes of preventing this from happing to other people.

‘If I can post now and save like one person from having to go through this, I would feel a lot better about the experience,’ she said, sharing a photo of her smile before the injections.

‘Your girl had a decent smile. I had dimples. It’s really all I had going for me, and then I developed really bad TMJ. My doctor suggested I get Botox in my masseter muscles right here.

Clearing this up: Montanna stressed in follow-up video that it was the injector's misplacement of the neurotoxin that ruined her smile — not the injection itself

‘Well, I did. They over-injected me and injected in the wrong spot and paralyzed all of my facial muscles.’

Montanna then smiled for the camera to show how her smile is shortened and doesn’t reveal as many of her front teeth as before.

‘So this is my smile now — and this is two months in,’ she noted. ‘You guys should have seen it before.’

Montanna’s video has been viewed more than 4.4 million times in just two days and has received thousands of sympathetic comments. However, many people pointed out that it was the injector’s misplacement of the neurotoxin that ruined her smile — not the injection itself.

‘I just want to say I am completely aware that this was an injector problem, not a Botox problem,’ she said in another TikTok. ‘I was just rambling and not imagining two million people would see what I was talking about, so I wasn’t wording things perfectly. I’ll admit that.

‘I’ve had Botox be a success at different med spas in different areas. I hope this doesn’t completely discourage people from getting Botox. It can be an incredible tool,’ she added. ‘I was just spreading awareness that this can happen.’

Candid: 'Things are getting better, but let's just say the confidence took a hit for a minute and I don't want anyone else to go through that,' said the TikToker (pictured before the injections)

Montanna told BuzzFeed that she started developing TMJ dysfunction — a painful jaw disorder — two years ago and would sometimes wake up with her jaw completely locked.

She said it was locked for two weeks straight when she started looking into Botox as a treatment option. When she was injected on January 21, she opted to get Dysport because they were running a discount special.

However, the injector didn’t convert the unit measurements properly, and she ended up getting over-injected, which left her mouth mostly paralyzed.

‘The injector told me I would have final results within a week or two, but my face was already freezing within four days — so I knew it was going to be bad,’ she recalled.

‘The width of my mouth started shortening. I could see less and less of my teeth when I would smile — that’s the first thing I noticed. Then my dimples almost completely went away.

‘My TMJ is better — my jaw did unlock soon after treatment and locks up a lot less now, but I surprisingly have more pain than before,’ she added. ‘From the paralysis, I’ve had quite a bit of muscle atrophy, so chewing certain things is more difficult than before.’

In a follow-up video, Montanna shared a photo of herself trying to smile right after the facial injections, revealing she could barely open her mouth.

‘Things are getting better, but let’s just say the confidence took a hit for a minute and I don’t want anyone else to go through that,’ she said.

Luckily, Dysport and Botox are only temporary and will start to wear off in three or four months, meaning Montanna’s smile will likely be back to normal by the summer.

Montanna thanked viewers for their support and kindness in her latest TikTok.

‘I really want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you guys for being so, so sweet and kind in the comments,’ she said.

‘Posting something like this could have gone in a completely different direction. TikTok is really ruthless sometimes and you guys chose to be sweet. So I really, really, really appreciate it.’
