After: after the jabs, the man's pout was shown looking significantly plumper, with a shiny coat of balm

TikTok creator @aestheticcliniclondon, which has outlets in London and Essex, sparked a fierce debate after sharing a clip showing an anonymous man lying on a treatment table before getting the plumping injections.

In the video, the clip zoomed into the man’s pre-treatment lips, before pulling out to show off his newly filled lips.

His lips were noticeably more plumped up, and covered in a glossy coat of lip balm.

It was accompanied by a caption reading: ‘Men also need a little plump.’

The video garnered mixed responses, with more than 3,000 people taking to the comments section to share their views.

Many commenters slammed the man in the clip, with one branding his lip filler 'a disaster', while another said they would 'run the other way'

Opinions were highly polarised, suggesting the topic of whether men should get fillers or not is a contentious one.

Among the negative comments were also people suggesting that the look wasn’t natural, although others jumped in to point out that as the video was filmed straight after the injections there would be some swelling.

Some commentators had extremely negative opinions on men getting lip filler, with one writing: ‘What is happening to our people?’

Another added: ‘I am so confused.’

Some comments were positive, including this one which called the man 'handsome', and complimented the injector's work

Some comments were positive, including this one which called the man ‘handsome’, and complimented the injector’s work

However, many thought he looked good following the procedure, with one writing: ‘They look good and he’s so handsome.’

‘women in this comment section acting like MEN. he’s not doing it for y’all if he’s happy let him live.’

And a third pointed out: ‘If girls can why cant guys?’

In recent years, surgeons have said there has been a rise in the number of men who want lip injections to give them a ‘proud’ lower lip and a natural smirk.

The population receiving these procedures is still overwhelmingly female, but the number of men who had a cosmetic surgery in 2016 increased by 3 percent over 2015, and was up by 28 percent since 2005.

What are dermal fillers?

Face and lip fillers (dermal fillers) are substances injected into your face.

They fill lines and wrinkles and add volume to areas such as your lips or cheeks.

Fillers are not permanent. How long they last depends on things like the type of filler and where it’s injected.

They usually last between six and 18 months.

Most dermal fillers used in the UK contain a natural substance called hyaluronic acid.

If you have fillers, the rest of your face will continue to age as normal.

Having dermal fillers is usually safe if it’s done by an experienced and suitably qualified practitioner.

Check the person doing your dermal fillers is on a register to show they meet set standards in training, skill and insurance.

Avoid practitioners who have only completed a short training course.

Book a consultation before you have the procedure.
