Kim Kardashian's No-Filler Claim Debunked By Beauty Critic

Kim Kardashian recently claimed she’s never had any fillers in her face, but a beauty critic alleges that The Kardashians star is lying.

Kim Kardashian raised some eyebrows when she recently claimed she’s never had any face fillers, but a beauty critic believes The Kardashians star is lying. In a recent interview, Kim discussed her new skincare line SKKN and how she takes care of her own skin. The reality star admitted that she gets Botox but recently restrained from getting so much of it injected into her face. As for fillers, not only did Kim claim she doesn’t have any in her face currently, but the star also insisted she’s never had any lip or cheek fillers in her life.

The same cannot be said for her younger sister Kylie Jenner, who admitted to getting lip fillers in 2015, which launched a viral trend called the Kylie Jenner lip challenge. At the time, fans were sucking on a shot glass in order to plump up their lips, but the trend had some damaging results. Luckily, Kylie released her Kylie Jenner lip kits with Kylie Cosmetics, and fans had a safer way to mimic her voluminous lips. Kylie’s older sister Kendall Jenner has been the latest family member to be met with lip injection accusations, while fans have speculated that Khloe Kardashian has had all kinds of procedures done to her face.

While she swore Botox is all she’s had done, SKKN founder Kim’s claims are now being debunked by a beauty critic who swears she knows the truth. Jessica Defino, whose resume includes positions at the New York Times, Vogue and Vice, tweeted a long thread on how she knows Kim is lying and why she finds the lies to be extremely damaging. The author of The Unpublishable newsletter shared some screenshots from Kim’s interview with Allure and wrote in a now-deleted tweet, “Remembering that time I was on a press trip with an allure editor and Kim’s go-to cosmetic injector. The injector told us everything she’s done to Kim’s face, off the record. Obviously I understand the site can’t publish that, but it shouldn’t publish f****** lies either.

The writer, who is incredibly passionate about exposing the beauty industry to prevent young women from developing eating disorders and body dysmorphia, continued her thread with further critiques of Kim’s interview. Jessica explained that while the interviewer somewhat critiqued Kim, they mostly furthered unrealistic beauty standards by publishing Kim’s quotes and not further pushing her to be honest. The writer clarified that she understands that the people who push these standards are struggling and believe that surrendering to the industry will “heal” them. She also admitted that she too was once a victim of the industry but knows “it’s possible to educate yourself, to do better & be better.

This wouldn’t be the first time Kim was caught in a lie, and it likely won’t be the last. While Kim may not see herself as pushing dangerous beauty standards, those she is affecting have a very different perspective. The outrage due to her alleged filler lies comes just months after she angered fans by admitting she lost 16 pounds in order to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s gown at the Met Gala. It’s clear that, like Jessica insinuated, Kim is also a victim of the beauty industry and is under the false impression that obtaining perfection will make her feel better about herself. However, as the beauty critic suggested, it might be time for The Kardashians star to take responsibility for her influential role in beauty, educate herself and start to do better.
