Sunscreen is, without a doubt, the best anti-aging skin-care product that anyone can use. That’s because it protects your skin from the UV damage that can lead to fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. At age 39, Miranda Kerr’s go-to sunscreen, Isidin Eryfotona Ageless, blends SPF 50 sunscreen with peptides and antioxidants to protect, repair, and correct your skin.

“I use ISDIN for sunscreen,” Kerr previously told Glamour. “There’s one that has a little tint to it. I quite like its sheer coverage.”

Isidin Eryfotona Ageless ($70) has earned its supermodel stamp of approval. First, it uses zinc oxide to provide a high level of sun protection. “Zinc oxide has many other health and healing benefits as well,” says Lana Pinchasov, a dermatology-certified physician’s assistant in New York City. “It’s used to help treat inflammation, and has also been used to help with acne breakouts. Due to its effect on inflammation, it can help treat pigment disorders like melasma, and it can also help moisturize and hydrate the skin, depending on the vehicle it’s in.”

Although zinc oxide works well on its own, Isdin ramped up this sunscreen’s powers with photolyase enzymes derived from plankton that has been shown to help repair damage caused by the sun and peptides to help keep skin cells healthy, fight the early signs of photoaging, support collagen, and improve elasticity to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Finally, it includes a bit of vitamin E to help boost the skin’s natural antioxidant defenses and protect it against environmental damage.

The formula has a sheer tint that works to even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of dark spots. What’s more, it can also help diminish the appearance of those dark spots over time: Studies have shown that sunscreen can help manage hyperpigmentation without additional lightning agents. According to The American Academy of Dermatology, “Effective treatment for dark spots and patches begins with sunscreen. Whether you’re treating the dark spots on your own or seeing a dermatologist, using sunscreen is essential when you’ll be outside. Applied daily, sunscreen can prevent new dark spots and patches. It can also help to clear existing ones.”

Kerr likes using this sunscreen because it has given her consistent results. “I really feel like the most important thing is to find what products work for you and give your skin the results you need,” she said. “And I really feel like I have noticed a big difference in my skin when I am consistent with my routine.”

The brand also offers a non-tinted version of the formula, which board-certified dermatologist Deirdre Hooper, MD, considers a staple in her own daily regimen. “There is no better beauty tool ever than sunscreen,” she says. This one goes on sheer, but still offers the same physical sun protection.
