Shh! Anti-agers no one but you need know about: How can I smooth my awful lockdown frown lines?
- An anonymous reader asked for advice on improving the look of wrinkles
- She says she normally gets botox but can’t at the moment due to lockdown
- Inge van Lotringen said to look on Instagram profile of facialists like Nichola Joss
Q: I’m 53 and was due to get my Botox topped up soon, to help with wrinkles around my eyes, forehead and a particularly awful frown line which seems to have got much worse this year! But now I can’t due to lockdown.
Are there any at-home treatments or products which can help in the meantime? Or should I save my money until I can get the real thing again?
A: Skincare will improve your skin quality and soften stressed features but, I won’t lie, only Botox can significantly reduce set lines.

So save your money while working on a glowing, relaxed face with minimal spend. One good thing about these awful lockdowns is that they’ve given us (free!) access to superstar facialists such as Nichola Joss (beauty editors have had her on speed dial for decades), whose @nicholajoss Instagram account is a treasure trove of guided awakening, relaxing and stimulating facial massages.

All you need is your fingers (and sometimes two spoons from the fridge) and a good product to give ‘slip’.
A nourishing but not too heavy face oil is ideal, will strengthen your skin in the long run, and can be used on the eyes as well.
Garden of Wisdom Pure Squalane Oil, £10 (victoria health.com) and Trilogy Hemphip Balancing Oil, £22.50 (trilogyproducts.co.uk), are great choices that won’t break the bank: that knowledge alone may soften frown lines!
