Gwyneth Paltrow Uses Botox, Should You?

Aging for individuals is inevitable. However, finding ways to reduce signs of aging on your skin is becoming more common by the minute. With the FDA-approved Xeomin botox treatments, celebrities are grabbing the chance to use injectables for younger-looking skin.

Actress and entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow has recently become the face of Xeomin injections. When asked by Harper Baazar why she made the decision to try the botox treatment, her response was “I had a midlife crisis when I turned 40, and I went to go see this doctor. It was a disaster. I didn’t do anything else for a long, long time. I was bruised, my forehead was completely frozen, and I didn’t look like myself at all.”

After dealing with a bad first experience with botox, she claims to have switched to Xeomin to give wrinkle-smoothing injectables another try. “I am a big fan,” she tells her fans on Instagram. According to Paltrow, it’s important to her that the Gen Z generation embraces feeling comfortable in their own skin. For her, injectables are the way she achieves this confidence.

“I think it’s nice when women share because there’s a lot of shame around surgery or injectables or fillers,” said Paltrow. “…it would be nice if people felt confident about the choices they were making.” For her, this means breaking down the barrier that receiving botox is taboo.

Should You Receive Botox?

Xeomin injections are something that works very well for Paltrow, but will it work well for you? When taking these injectables, many individuals should keep in mind that there are a series of side effects you may experience:

— swallowing and breathing difficulties

— spread of toxin effect

— weakening of muscles

— seizures

— hypertension

— gastrointestinal disorder

Although these side effects may be daunting, dermatologist Dr. Farhang explains that botox is in fact safe to use. According to him, researchers have found that many of the side effects will wear off with time. If the side effects are too much for you to continue using botox, you are always able to stop before your next injection appointment.

Even though the side effects may wear off, many individuals are still left asking why they should use injectables for younger-looking skin. According to Dr. Sandra Lee, from the show Dr. Pimple Popper, it comes down to how much you think you need it to be satisfied. “…if certain lines or wrinkles bother you, you are trying to prevent future signs of aging, or struggle with any of the medical conditions…it is a treatment that you can explore. I would recommend doing your research, and then finding a board-certified Dermatologist to walk you through treatment options and pricing.”

Botox may not be for everyone, but many use it to build confidence and help with certain health issues that they face. Nonetheless, it is important for individuals to keep in mind the side effects they are taking a chance on enduring. Before taking an injectable like Xeomin, consult your doctor to make sure botox is a safe path for you to be taking.
