Despite the show’s big numbers, fans were still worried about The Last of Us possibly getting canceled after dozens of other shows were recently pulled off HBO/HBO Max, but thankfully they had nothing to sweat.

What will The Last of Us season 2 cover?

That’s the big question! It ultimately depends on where the show’s first season ends. There’s a possibility the first season could cover all of the first game, but there’s also a chance it will just cover the majority of the first game. With only a few episodes out, it’s still hard to tell.

That said, if the show does fully cover the entire first game in its first season, then season 2 will likely jump to cover The Last of Us Part II.

Will the cast return for a second season?

No matter what, we’ll definitely see Pedro Pascal back as Joel. However, if the show does move on to The Last of Us Part II for its second season, there’s a chance that Bella Ramsey may not return, as the game takes place four years after the first game’s big ending. That means Ellie would be 19 instead of 14 like in the first game/season. However, considering the fact that Bella Ramsey is actually 19 IRL, there’s still a chance they might not recast Ellie but just make her look older instead.
